New ERA's
main goal is to provide an independent Nepalese perspective in
the design, implementation and assessment of development
policies & programs by employing a wide range of
quantitative, qualitative and PRA methodologies. |

New ERA is one of the first non-government, non-profit research
organization founded in 1971 and registered as a public limited
company to articulate Nepalese aspirations in the development
process of Nepal. As a matter of policy, New ERA reinvests all
operational income into upgrading the institution and conducting
further research of implementing development projects aiming to
alleviate rural poverty. "

Its seven member Board
of Directors, which includes some of Nepal's best known
scholars, is elected from among the stakeholders. It approves
the broad policy guidelines for the organisation. |
New ERA's
day-to-day management is the responsibility of the Executive
Committee. A five-member Executive Committee is in-charge of
performing all the executive functions and also evaluates
staff performance. The Committee, consists of the Executive
Director, Deputy Director, a nominee of the Board and the
remaining two members are elected by the staff. |
