10. Pig-Raising by a Group of Women Living with HIV/AIDS, Rupandehi

New ERA has extended its support to the Asha Jyoti Sahayog Samaj (AJSS), an organization established by a group of women living with HIV/AIDS in Rupandehi district by once again providing financial support of Rs. 50,000 for a second time along with a computer and printing machine. The organization aims to commence poultry farming, pig farming, seasonal and off season vegetable farming and for this endeavor, they plan to lease 0.6 hectares land for 7 years so as to provide employment to 16 HIV/AIDS infected persons. This time, AJSS is collaborating with District Animal services, District development committee, Rupendhi United Mission to Nepal, Butwal Municipality and Sakar Group Nepal and it is hoped that the partner organizations will play a pivotal role in implementation and monitoring the program successfully. Five local community members will form a committee to identify and implement local resources and with lessons learned from previous failure, they are committed to succeeding this time around. New ERA has been informed that the computer and printer are being used well.
