7. Poultry and Mushroom Farming by Shanti Samuha - A Leprosy affected Group

Shanti Samuha, situated in Ward no.4 of Setidevi VDC in Kathmandu district was established in the year 2066 B.S. by a group of 40 individuals affected from Leprosy. These physically challenged people came together with the purpose of being independent. In early September 2011, New ERA received financial proposal from Shanti Samuha requesting for a sum of NRs. 64,000 for poultry and mushroom farming. Having done the need assessment of the group, New ERA provided NRs. 30,000 as first installment to strengthen their poultry farming program.

The information on the progress was collected from the organization itself in written form on December 2011. On the basis of the information received, committee members decided to provide the remaining sum of NRs. 34,000 as second and final installment to Shanti Samuha. The financial support from New ERA has encouraged the members of the organization for mushroom farming.
