Title: An Evaluation of the Primary Health Care Based Community Project in Palpa and Arghakhanchi Districts 

Abstract: Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) was introduced a Primary Health Care (PHC) based Community Development Program in 1988 in Palpa district with close collaboration and financial assistance from Danish Red Cross (DRC). In July 1992, the project extended three VDCs in Arghakhanchi district. Since 1997, the project was implemented in Palpa and Arghakhanchi in an intensive manner, which was phased out in December 1999. 

This study was to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the program. The study assesses the community development program's skills in promoting participatory planning; implementation and monitoring within local communities have been strengthened during the project period. The study also obtained the information on local communities' self-help ability to maintain and further improve upon their own health situation has been strengthened within the project period.
