Title: Baseline Survey of the Adolescent Girls Employment Initiative in Nepal 2010

Abstract: The Adolescent Girls Initiative (AGI) Program in Nepal is part of World Bank-led a program supported with the Nike Foundation and the Government of Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Denmark, launched in five low-income and post conflict countries: Afghanistan, Liberia, Nepal, Rwanda, and South Sudan. The overall objective of the program was to uplift the economic empowerment of adolescent girls and young women. Helvitas Nepal serves as the Employment Fund Secretariat (EFS), has been executing skills training and employment programs in the different parts of Nepal. This survey was to generate benchmark database of individuals and households including location, infrastructure, road access, and other social and economic resources of study population. The study assesses the current situation of education, income generating activities, aspirations financial literacy, life satisfaction, and self-confidence both treatment and control groups. The baseline database can be used to compare the pre-intervention and post- intervention performance in treatment and control groups.
