Title : Nepal Micro-Nutrient Status Survey 1998
Abstract : The national survey taps the status of micro-nutrition for the first time in Nepal
and identifies the risk areas of deficiencies. It provides information, derived from clinical,
biochemical and qualitative indicators, on three basic micro-nutrients - Vitamin A, iodine
and iron - which play a vital role in having a healthy population. The impact of programs
such as Vitamin A capsule distribution program and salt iodization program were assessed
in motivating the rural population. When completed in November 1998, the report would
provide policy recommendations on tackling the problem of malnutrition in Nepal.
