Third Endline Survey for Intensification of Antenatal
Iron Supplementation Program in Nepal.
Abstract: The overall objective of
this study was to assess the impact of an intensified effort to extend
micro-nutrient supplements to pregnant women and lactating women
(including Vitamin A supplementation to postpartum women). The study
assesses coverage and characteristics regarding the utilization of
ante-natal/post-natal iron and postpartum vitamin A supplements
delivered through a community-based delivery system, measure the
participant compliance with daily supplements as well as the factors
which contributed to a low compliance rate, and knowledge and practices
of health workers/volunteers regarding iron supplementation during
pregnancy and community based iron supplementation activity.
