Title: A Study of the Musahar, Chamar and Dom Communities in the Maithali Belt of Nepal

Abstract: The major objectives of the study will be to assess the basic information on social, economic, health and political situations of the Terai dalits like Musahar, Chamar and Dom communities) in the Maithili belt of the eastern Tarai region, particularly Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusa and Mahottari districts. The study focused in comparative analysis and in assessing the impacts of the program implemented by Save the children US and save the children Japan. It also focused in analyzing the current status in the district level and compared with national level data. Both qualitative and quantitative tools were used to collect the data from the sampled VDCs of the districts. Besides that literatures were also reviewed to assess the current policies of the Dalit in Nepal.
