Title: Large Block Production of Rapeseed in Bardiya District
Abstract: The project was conducted in Bardiya district to
increase the rural income through enhanced production of rapeseed. The
participatory approach with bottom-up planning was the approach adopted
during program implementation. Groups of farmers involved in the production
program were impressed with increased output as a result of improved
production technology. This time around the farmers very well realized the
importance of good quality seed, ignored earlier. Also, there was no system
of irrigating this crop in Bardiya despite availability of water in ample
quantity. After this project was implemented, the farmers became convinced
that as far as the Rapeseed crop was concerned, single irrigation was enough
to substantially boost production.
