Title: Health Impact Study of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in the Lumbini Zone, Western Development Region, Nepal

Abstract: FINNIDA has been assisting HMG/Nepal in providing potable drinking water and sanitation and developing facilities for the solid and liquid waste disposal system in six districts of Lumbini Zone between 1990-95. The study evaluates the impact of the projects on health status in the area. The study found that hygiene situation had improved, institutional toilets functioning, and water supply schemes operated and maintained properly. Morbidity due to water-borne diseases, especially diarrhoea, dysentery, and worm infection had decreased significantly.
