Title: A Baseline Survey of Baitadi, Pyuthan, Salyan and Surkhet Districts Under the Primary Schools Feeding Programme

Abstract: The World Food Program (WFP) assistance to the Primary School Feeding Program (SFP) was started in 1996 with the aims at improving children's school attendance through reduction in afternoon absenteeism, enhancing attention span and learning capacity by relieving short-term hunger, heightening gender awareness among school personnel and communities. The main objective of this study was to obtain baseline data, information and trend relevant to the SFP with the view to preparing a basis for future comparison. The study assesses the role of food management committee (FMC) in food management activities of the school, the level of women's representation in FMC and their involvement in decision making. It also assessed enrolment status of school going age children, the level of gender awareness regarding girl's education and women's participation in the project activities.
