User Requirements Study for Forest Assessment and Monitoring Environment
Abstract:
The
study was part of a larger framework covering five countries — Brazil,
Cameroon, Costa Rica, Malaysia and Nepal — selected by FAO in consultation
with ITC. The case study on Nepal was to represent montane forest with
focus on local management of forest and watershed in the country’s montane
areas. The main objective of the study is to identify organizations that
use spatial data on forest and watershed management, and their spatial data
requirements for sustainable forest management. The study also assesses
available facilities, trained manpower, organizational interaction by
levels and across sectors.
