Title: Country Report on Beijing Plus Five Reviews Nepal Progress Implementing the Beijing Platform for Action (BPFA)

Abstract: This country report was prepared jointly by New ERA and Ministry of Women and Social Welfare. The report was for the Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly held on 5-9 June 2000 in New York. to review and assess progress towards gender equality and women empowerment after the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. It highlights initiatives, achievements, constraints/obstacles and future action commitments of Nepal in each of the 12 critical areas of concern identified by the BPFA for attaining gender equality and women empowerment. The initial progress reviews on critical areas of concern was discussed in one day consultative regional workshop in five development region of Nepal and two days central level workshop. New ERA's efforts were coordinate the study team, logistic support in the workshop and finalized the Country Report.
