System and Livestock Keeping in Majhigaon and Dumrechour Villages of
Sindhupalchowk District, Nepal
Abstract: The
Boudha-Bahunipati Family Welfare Project (BBP) was an Integrated Community
Development Program of the Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN). It
was initiated in 1972 with the goal of improving child and community health,
increasing agricultural productivity, raising animal productivity, improving
the household income generation activities, encouraging community
participation in program planning and demonstrating cost-effective methods in
community development. To achieve the goals the project incorporated
different activities such as family planning and maternal and child health,
preventive and curative health, agriculture, animal husbandry and
horticultural components. This study assesses the impact of the BBP on fodder
system and livestock keeping in Sindhupalchowk district.
