Development
of Survey Design and Protocol and Data Analysis for KAP Survey on HIV in
Bhutan
The main objectives of the survey
are to explore the situation of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted
infections among out-of-school youth, school youth and uniformed
personnel which includes assessing the knowledge, attitudes and
practices regarding HIV/AIDS related issues of young people, adults and
uniformed personnel in Bhutan; to determine the sexual risk and
unprotected behaviors of the target population that may lead to the
transmission of HIV/AIDS; to identify the problems and impediments these
young people, adults and uniformed encounter in accessing information on
HIV/AIDS and STI; to establish a benchmark of the situation of HIV/AIDS/STI;
and to develop United Nations General Assembly Special Session on
HIV/AIDS (UNGASS) core indicators. This study includes out-of-school
youth aged 15-24 years, in-school youth, from grade 7 and above and
uniformed personnel (army, police and royal guard).
