Evaluation of Newborn Vitamin A Supplementation Pilot Project in Nepal
Abstract: This study was undertaken in Nawalparasi and Banke districts in
an effort to implement
the
newborn vitamin A supplementation
(NVAS) project with support from
Micronutrient Initiative (MI). The primary indicator being
assessed is contact of health workers/FCHVs with the target population.
This study mainly compares the characteristics of the service delivery
status besides knowledge, attitude and practice in relation to NVAS of
the service providers. The study assesses the coverage of NVAS; KAP of
the service providers and caregivers; and feasibility of either one of
the intervention strategies (FCHV dosing and mother/family member
dosing).
