End-line Evaluation of Maternal Care Knowledge and Practice in Four DACAW Districts

2004

With increasing recognition, at the global and community level, of the importance of maternal nutrition to infant/child survival, growth and development, UNICEF/Nepal has supported the development of community-based strategies to improve maternal care on a pilot basis in the districts of Achham, Chitwan, Parsa and Sunsari in Nepal. Efforts to improve maternal care are based upon the Community Action Processes (CAP). This cross-sectional, end-line survey was conducted in Chitwan, Parsa and Sunsari, approximately two years after implementation of the pilot, to measure the difference in pregnant women’s knowledge and practices of maternal care since program implementation.
